Special Weather Statement in effect for:- Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Alberta clipper to bring snow and gusty winds to Nova Scotia today.
Locations: all of Nova Scotia.
Potential snowfall: 5 to 15 cm, possibly higher over Cape Breton.
Strongest wind gusts: up to 70 km/h .
Time span: this morning into this evening.
Remarks: Snow will continue to spread east across Nova Scotia through this morning, tapering off later this morning for the western half of the province. The morning commute is expected to be messy, especially over central Nova Scotia, but the highest accumulations are expected over northern mainland Nova Scotia and Cape Breton into this afternoon.
Strong northwesterly winds will also develop this afternoon along with a drop in temperatures, bringing blowing snow at times into tonight.
